為何我們需要公平稅賦?

Elizabeth Warren,現任美國麻州參議員。她曾任教於哈佛法學院,2011年宣布正式參選參議員,在此之前,她幾乎毫無政壇經驗,但卻在2012年打敗現任的Scott Brown,一舉當選,成為麻州第一位女性參議員。她專長破產法,也曾任消費者金融保護局特別顧問。她為小人物和弱勢發言,卻成為財團與華爾街的眼中釘。

關於公平稅賦,她說:

「在這個國家,沒有任何人只靠自己就能變得富有。沒有任何一個。你蓋了一件工廠,很好。但我想講清楚:你把貨物送到市場,那些道路是其他人繳稅修建的;你聘了員工,她們受的教育,是其他人支付的;你能安全的待在工廠之中,是因為有了警察和消防隊,而這也是其他人所支付的。你不用擔心強盜跑到你的工廠裡搶走一切,不用雇人防備,也是靠著其他人共同的付出。你建了一座工廠,它很成功,或成為一個偉大的想法,太好了,你可以拿走大部分的利潤。但社會契約論基本的理念,就是你能拿走你大部分的利潤,但你也要為下一代付出。」

(No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police-forces and fire-forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory — and hire someone to protect against this — because of the work the rest of us did. Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea-God bless. keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along. )

  1. 當歐美大眾追求公平正義的同時,台灣和日本的奴隸勞工和中慘階級,還在叩謝資本家賞牠們工作機會,讓牠們有幾口填不飽肚子的飯吃。唉。
