-Marc Bloch

Victims' Revolution?

Came across this very weird book that claims to reveal how identity studies -- women, black, queer and chicano -- are invading and destroying American higher education. The logic is simple: America used to be the greatest countries in the world (and perhaps in human history) but our greatness is now under threatened because those impenetrable jargons introduced by "Marxist Gramscian" scholars spread all over the country and we no longer teach our students Western Civilization that is "the best that has been thought and said." And he mentions twice in the chapter on black studies that the Ford Foundation sponsored the African American studies at Harvard. (See, we white capitalists are not as evil as you think!) Really wanted to burn this book before reading a fair review on NYTimes, as I was closing my liberal mind. And sadly, he got 4.7 stars on Amazon.
